NEW ‘BORROW-A-DOG' SERVICE LAUNCHED FOR DOG LOVERS

A new Internet-based service, ‘Borrowadog.com' is launched this month which offers dog owners a kinder yet cost-effective alternative to kennelling, dog-walkers or dog sitters.

Borrowadog.com matches dog owners who need a temporary break from their pets with those in their local community who would like to own a dog, but are unable to do so due to work, logistical or personal reasons.

Owners and potential borrowers can register at www.borrowadog.com or by telephoning 020 8354 3967. Subject to acceptance (all applicants must comply with certain conditions in order to protect the health and safety of the dogs), their names will be stored on a database and carefully matched according to respective needs. A small annual fee is charged for using the service: £30.00 for owners and £20.00 for borrowers.

A ‘virtual community' is provided for members to exchange news, views and opinions. There is also the opportunity to purchase complementary products and services including pet insurance, reference books, magazines, leads, bowls, toys etc. The site will be regularly up-dated with relevant news, products and services.

Managing Director of Borrowadog.com, Laura Stevens, says: "Having previously owned two dogs myself, I remember many times when I could have used a helping hand, but hated placing my dog in kennels. Nowadays, I would love to spend some time with a dog, but am unable to commit full-time. Our service provides an ideal way to match the needs of dog lovers everywhere.
